Joint deformities in rheumatoid arthritis? How can I correct them?

If joint deformities happen in rheumatoid disease, it will be due to years of active disease that has not under control in a patient with rheumatoid arthritis of the type that can cause deformities, because not every rheumatoid arthritis must cause deformities.

If those deformities happened already, the patient needs to know here that those deformities, that are already there now, can be corrected not by a prescription of medications but by surgery.

For a surgery to be done, you need make sure that you do two things:

Number 1: surgery should be done only at a time when the inflammation in the joints is well under control with medications.

Number 2: You need to confirm from the hand surgeon that the expected outcome of the surgery is an improvement in the function of the joints as a priority number one, if the joint function had been affected, and an improvement in the appearance of the joint as a priority number two. The point here is that having a functional joint that does not look so handsome is more important than a joint that looks nice but that is not functioning well.

One last point here: never forget that at a time when you got those deformities in some joints, you still have other joints that do not have deformities. You should take very good care of those joints by making sure you drink your medicines on a regular basis to make sure the disease does not progress in those joints too and you don't get more deformities.
