Six steps for keeping your joints warm in winter

  • ·         Dress in several layers. That’s the one piece of advice that almost everyone dose.
  • ·         Make sure when you dress heavy to give extra attention to the chest and tummy regions. When those two areas are warm enough the body will send more blood the hands and feet to keep them warm also
  • ·         Move, exercise: waking is the best. Walking will make you feel warm
  • ·         Add some weight lifting exercises if possible, especially around the joints that hurt sometimes. Strengthening the thigh muscles for example will control knee pain.
  • ·         Eat healthy and keep your weight
  • ·         Using warm packs on any joints that hurts too much during the day
  • ·         Sleep enough: eight hours is just optimal
